Bhuvaneshvari
CREATIVE PLAY. Are you craving some connection to the heart and source of your creativity? Call on the Goddess of Creative Play — Bhuvaneshvari, the Queen of the Universe. Through the power of love she gives rise to creativity and the sharing of spiritual pleasures within a community.
BHUVANESHVARI MANTRA
HRIM
(pronounced HREEM)
The Goddess Bhuvaneshvari is the Queen of the Universe — "Bhuva" meaning worlds, and "Ishwara" meaning queen. She is the consort of Shiva, depicted as a beautiful three-eyed goddess, luminous, seated upon a jeweled throne. She gave birth to the five elements. She is the power behind the forces of creation, preservation, and destruction. All that is manifest comes through her Grace.
Bhuvaneshvari created the entire Universe — it begins and ends with her. She brought forth the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and then gave them their female counterparts: Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Gauri. She is seen as the light itself, carrying the radiance of the Sun within her.
Bhuvaneshvari resides in the space element — the infinite space where creativity and all that is manifest comes forth. She is also known as Maya, or divine illusion. This playground of Maya is the place where infinite love can be experienced and consciousness can take form. She creates the sacred space within each of us where supreme peace can be attained. She teaches us the nature of reality and reveals the illusions that can deceive us. Observe how the things you thought were solid can dissolve, and a new world order or creative venture can arise.
You can worship Bhuvaneshvari as the great love that pours from you, from the temple of your own being — the love that brings forth children and works of creative expression alike. Honor this solar force in your own life if you are feeling that greater freedom and play is required. Connect to her sacred sound HRIM and gaze at the center of her Yantra to ignite that all-pervasive, all-knowing space of creativity. Jai Ma!
